X Factor hopefuls Twem have claimed that they are NOT the next John and Edward Grimes.
Many had been comparing the French twins to the Irish pair who made it onto the X Factor live show’s last year and have since landed their own TV show and advertising contracts.
Samir and Medhi go by the name of ‘Twem’ and explained to Dermot O’Leary that it means ‘twins’ in Arabic. They were seen on tonight’s show singing Lady Gaga’s Just Dance for Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell and afterwards Cole laughed:
“Not the best vocals in the world but I really enjoyed it! You’re like the Parisian John and Edward.”
However, flattered as they are, Samir and Medhi told The Mirror that they can sing better than Jedward and would rather not be compared to the duo.
Samir said:
“They’re good guys but we’re definitely not the same. We don’t have their hair and we can sing. They’re here to joke and that’s not what we’re all about. We are twins but we are very different. We’re not Jedward in French.”
After Twem auditioned, Simon Cowell blasted Louis Walsh (Jedward’s manager) saying:
“This is the effect you’re now having. The two monsters you created are now spreading across Europe. Here it comes back again.”
But Samir said: “It made us want to try very hard to impress him. We want to make Simon like us.”
